Captain
Peter started sailing (Laser, Fin, 470, Fly Dutchman and Tempest) already as a very young man in a sailing club at the Bavarian Lake “Ammersee" in Germany. Sailing together with his friends launched a love of all things having to do with water and sea.
He started early to be part of sailing regattas first, on the Bavarian lakes and later, in entire Germany and the surrounding countries. At the age of 19 he became part of the German National Team of the “Tempest Class” and sailed National-, and International-Regattas, such as European-, and World-Championships for more than 10 years.
Later he sailed at the “Travemünder Woche ”, the “Gentomiglia at Lago del Garda”, Cote D'Azur Cup (Cannes), or the famous “Kieler Woche”.
Unfortunately, his professional career at an EUROPEAN Agency limited his availability to perform his main hobbies, sailing and diving the past years. Nevertheless, he always kept diving and sailing throughout those years and of course following his dream of having their own boat one day allowing him to fulfill his passion for sailing.

After Silvia and Peter certified as divers in 2011. They went on many exciting sailing and diving adventures together in many places around the world. They have two pretty girls, Sofia and Eleonora, who already share their passion for sailing and diving. Both quit their jobs, founded the Greek charter company "Matern Yachting" M.C.P.Y. and bought the brand new Bali 4.1 catamaran "IRIS" from Catana in 2019. This redesigned sailing ship is the best of its class, very spacious and luxurious. They sailed with their new boat IRIS from Cap Bonn (Tunisia) over the "Road of Medina", along Sicily, to the Ionian Sea in Lefkada (Greece) and later from the southern Aegean Sea, over the Sporade Islands to the northern Aegean and their berth in Northern Greece to Kavala.
Materns' Passions
Silvia also started sailing a few years ago, due to Peter's passion for sailing. Since then, she has been obsessed with sailing and diving. Whenever her busy job in the past at an international organization allowed, you could find her either sailing or diving on one of the world's oceans.
During these years she gained a lot of sailing experience, mostly in the Mediterranean on Iris as a co-captain with customers. The diving experience includes the Red Sea, Belgium, Netherlands, Thailand, the Philippines, Bali, Indonesia, Malaysia and many other areas on our wonderful planet.
